For and against ESSAY

Lowering the age teenagers can get their driving licence’’

People have always wondered the right age at which teenagers should get their driving licence. As we know, the minimum age to get a licence is quite different from other. For example, in the USA, teenagers can drive their first car, at the age of 16, however, in Spain the minimum age is 18. Reading these facts, we could start a debate of for and against main reasons, so this way, we could finally get our own reflection and theory.

On the one hand, many people think that the current age, 18, is the correct one. Their main reasons are that before 18 years old, teenagers aren’t mature enough to take the responsibility of driving a car and being consequent of the problems it can involve.
They also say that, teenagers don’t need the car until 18 because they still go to the high school, and most parents drive them everywhere, or they can also take the public transportation.

On the other hand, other people feel that for some teenagers, (who live outside the cities), the opportunity of getting a driving licence would mean to have a little more of autonomy and comfort in their lives. They could go everywhere at any time they’d like . And last but not least, it would also mean an increase of parents’ free time.

In conclusion, I think teenagers should get their driving licence at the age of 16, because sometimes you are too limited of going wherever you want because of the few public transport that exists here.
